How a UK buyer with no real connection to Israel signed a ₪1.2M mortgage
to approval in principle
mortgage signed
documents analysed and processed
online, from the UK
The client
A UK buyer with no real connection to Israel had never bought property there, and did not think he could get a mortgage. He had received a payout from a previous job and was considering a new-build home in Israel. First, he wanted to understand his financial position: could he afford it? Would an Israeli bank lend to an overseas buyer? How much cash would he really need after taxes, fees and currency movement? Could it all be managed from the UK?
He heard about LendAbroad in a London community WhatsApp group promoting one of our webinars, which helped him understand the numbers, the mortgage structure and the practical steps.
The challenge
A cross-border mortgage is not just about finding a lender. It meant coordinating the Israeli bank, the advisor, the property side, local professionals, account opening, document collection, Hebrew forms and currency transfers. Without a structured platform, that means scattered emails, WhatsApps, PDFs and manual follow-ups. For a buyer abroad, every missing document can mean another trip to Israel.
The solution
He uploaded more than 50 documents directly into the platform, which became the hub of the whole file. Messages ran through the platform with email notifications, so no update was missed.
In parallel, a specialist advisor guided him throughout: bank requirements, local rules, affordability and timing. At the final stage the advisor spotted that rates had moved and helped him benefit from better terms rather than locking in too early.
The outcome
- Approval in principle in hand within 3 days, so he knew his exact buying power
- A ₪1.2M mortgage, signed
- More than 50 documents analysed and processed on the platform
- The whole process run online from the UK
